OSI Product Strategy
OSI's product families consist of PC-based Open Systems hardware and software solutions and firmware based point-of-sale systems. This combination allows OSI to provide a broad range of products and offer its customers and distribution channels a choice of technologies and system solutions to meet their business requirements. In Retail markets where OSI is primarily focused (i.e., Specialty, Variety and Hospitality), OSI will continue to develop and market turnkey system solutions comprised of hardware, software and professional services. OSI introduced several new Open System hardware and software solutions in 1997. These include the KeyPOS Plus, Win-Plus, RS6500, and Vantage Plus platforms.
OSI has developed an industry reputation and tradition for delivering high quality Retail Systems with exceptional reliability and performance.

OSI Market Strategy
OSI is a total solution provider offering hardware, software and professional services for niche vertical markets and applications. This includes restaurant and food services applications in hospitality and select general merchandise markets. OSI will continue to build on its success and installed base in these markets by offering new solutions and expanded services. OSI plans to expand its position as a total systems provider by offering turnkey solutions to additional niche verticals in general merchandise and hospitality as well as other retail vertical markets in the future.
OSI has also developed a market position as a systems integrator by developing the ability to deliver integrated system solutions comprised of Omron and third party hardware and software and providing a range of professional services to meet the needs of specific customers.
OSI will continue to market its product solutions and services to independent and chain retailers through a dual distribution channel comprised of Omron resellers and a direct sales organization which targets accounts in select retail verticals.

OSI Distribution Channels
INDIRECT CHANNEL
OSI has over 150 resellers in the United States and Canada. The Omron reseller network is comprised of System Integrators, Value Added Resellers (VARS) and a Distributor that operates in the Canadian marketplace. A number of Omron resellers have multiple offices and market on a regional basis across several states or provinces. As a group, Omron resellers sell to a variety of retail vertical markets including hospitality, supermarkets, convenience stores, specialty and variety stores. In addition to hardware and software a typical Omron reseller will also provide hardware maintenance as well as other services.

DIRECT CHANNEL
OSI has a direct sales organization that markets Omron products and services to medium and large retail chains in the hospitality market, and in select verticals in the general merchandise market.
OTHER COUNTRIES
The Omron Corporation markets Retail Information Systems on a worldwide basis. In addition to OSI, Omron Corp. maintains retail subsidiaries in the United Kingdom, Germany, Singapore, Japan and Europe. The Pacific Rim, South America, Australia and other world markets are covered by a network of major distributors.
