Omron Systems Inc., a major supplier of Retail Information Systems released the RS4000 Series, a new POS systems family for General Merchandise applications. The RS4000 Series delivers enhanced system features and functionality which provides an affordable alternative to the more expensive PC/POS platforms. RS4000 Series system features include - full price look-up and scanning support for up to 35,000 PLUs, credit authorization, comprehensive reporting as well as a complete range of front-end features that simplify transaction processing and improve cash management. Application software for the RS4000 Series is based on a previous generation of Omron POS systems and has been installed in thousands of independent as well as chain Retailer's. Besides Specialty and Variety stores, the RS4000 Series application software has been installed in a diversity of scanning applications including Liquor stores, C-Stores and Superettes/Specialty Grocery. The RS4000 Series family consists of the model RS4310 and model RS4810 which accommodates the varied requirements in the retail market. The RS4810 model features a Flash ROM, providing the ability to load application software electronically without physical replacement of the EPROM. The Flash ROM feature is ideal for chain store environments with multiple locations. The RS4000 Series offers many different peripheral options for connectivity - Host Communications, Scanners, Precision Scale options, On-line Credit Authorization Devices, Slip Printers, Coin Dispensers and Back Room packages.
