Overview

The Omron RS4341 and RS4841 are POS terminals designed specifically to meet the diverse needs of fast food, cafeteria, fine dining and family restaurants.  Feature rich functionality allows stand-alone operation or customized network operation.  Highly functional, these systems provide flexibility and memory options, while maintaining the outstanding characteristics found in their Omron predecessors.

Hardware Options

The RS4341 and RS4841 terminals offer operational versatility through a broad range of standard and optional hardware:

• One line, 12-digits or two line, 20 character alpha/numeric operator display for clear, easy reading 
• 11 or 12 digit customer display 
• Optional 9" VGA CRT for convenient display of fast food and bar items 
• Standard micromotion keyboard with 135 key locations is 100% soft and fully programmable 
• Optional full travel keyboard with 98 key locations is available for cashier operations 
• Optional micromotion auxiliary keyboard provides an additional 99 key locations 
• Protocol converter provides online authorization to property management systems or account receivable software 
   

Peripherals

With an extensive choice of peripherals, the RS4341 and RS4841 allow for a customized fit, specific to your business needs: 

• A slip printer for hard check preparation, check endorsement and document validation 
• A remote soft check printer which can be shared by multiple terminals and print guest check data
• The ability to connect to up to eight remote printers 
• An optional scale (10 or 30 lb) to provide fast, accurate pricing of items sold by weight.  Preset tare keys maximize accuracy and speed. (4 digit tare weight allows for use of heavy containers) 
• A coin dispenser to encourage fast and easy transactions 
• Credit authorization processing with PIN input 
• Integrated mag stripe or UPC code readers for account number input

• Macro keys simplify operation and provide customized transaction sets. One keystroke provides accurate and complete reporting 
• Split check, guest check combine or transfer for customer convenience 
• Itemized receipt on demand or stub receipt for order pick up 
• "Transaction Store and Recall" provides efficient drive-thru First-in/ First-out (FIFO) capability 
• File memory can be expanded as necessary up to 2 MB 
• Expandable to 9,999 items, the item file handles even the largest menu 
• 4,500 fully itemized open guest check records allow all checks to be closed at end of business day

• Master terminal and intelligent stand alone capabilities allow for sharing of guest check, time and attendance and cashier/server data 
• Direct interface to Omron Systems' credit authorization terminal ensures accuracy and enforces approval procedures with a PIN input option for customer security 
• Accepts foreign currency and allows partial tender 
• Split tender on transactions for faster checkout and improved customer satisfaction includes 10 media keys plus preset tenders 
• 6 levels of menu control for customizing meal periods (brkfst, lunch, dinner) and portion pricing (lg, med, small)

Terminal Configuration

The RS4000 Series is a family of compact POS terminals designed to meet today's management and communication needs. Complete with a comprehensive selection of industry specific peripherals, the RS4341 and RS4841 support the same full functionality of the RS4541 while providing a migration path for the current RS4541. Extensive RS4000 and RS4541 compatibility, including ISC communication and remote polling, will minimize the startup expense and the training investment typically required by the reseller.

Compared to prior generation OMRON products for Food Service environments, the Series RS4000 offers:

• Customer Display Standard - The easy-to-read, turret style, numeric display that adjusts for maximum visibility is included as a standard feature.
• 512KB RAM Standard - All terminals in the RS4000 Series include 512K RAM memory for user files. The largest menus in excess of 500 - 1500 items, including daily and P-T-D PLU reporting, 1000+ retained guest checks, 99 cashier/servers, Internal Data Capture, etc. can be stored. Special needs can be accommodated with memory expansion of up to 2 MB.
• Additional ROM Capacity - 4 MB ROM is provided standard for both RS4341 and RS4841 to allow for application development of new software versions and niche market feature enhancements.
• Flash ROM Capability - 4 MB Flash ROM is provided on the main board of the RS4841 to store the application software. Flash ROM permits application software to be electronically loaded without having to physically replace the EPROM.
• Expanded Connectivity - Both the RS4341 and the RS4841 provide a maximum of four RS232 ports (1 x HOST Communication, 1 x Scanner plus 2 Utility ports for EXP, CRT etc.).

System Configuration
The Level 0 release of RS4341/RS4841 software interfaces with OmCom PI Version 2.12. This feature permits an RS4541 to co-exist with the RS4341 or RS4841.

Compatibility Exceptions with the RS4541

• The RS4341 or RS4841 is required to be the master terminal connected to the host.
• If a RAM Clear is performed on a RS4541 and a VE file from a RS4341/RS4841 is loaded, the keyboard will need to be re-loaded.
• If a master RS4341/RS4841 terminal copy or host copy is loaded into a RS4541 with an existing program, the keyboard will NOT have to be re-loaded.
• If a copy of an RS4541 VE File is copied to the RS4341 or RS4841, the keyboard will be corrupted and must be re-loaded.
• The following individual files are NOT compatible: Cashier file, Key Map and Macro keys.
• The RS4341, RS4841 or Host can obtain a consolidation report from the RS4541, however, the RS4541 cannot perform a consolidated report of mixed terminals.
• The RS4341/RS4841 can only perform PLU maintenance while terminals are in an idle state. This modification will increase the speed of the PLU maintenance process.
